RuneScape the Blood Pact

RuneScape the Blood Pact is the first free quest since the Rune Mysteries back in 2003. If you have obtained 300 points elsewhere in the world you are then ready to begin the Blood Pact. The whole thing is quite straight forward and it shouldn’t tax you too much.

It starts in the Lumbridge Graveyard; here you will meet Xiena and she wastes no time telling you about her current problems. Apparently she has found out that some Zamorak cultists have taken another girl hostage. If you agree to take this mission you will then get to see a cut scene where a girl called Illona is taken hostage by three members of the Zamorak Cult.

At the beginning of the RuneScape the Blood Pact Quest you walk into a room but before you can do anything one of the cultists will hit Xiena. You are now left to fight Kayle alone, but it shouldn’t prove too much of a problem. He has a combat level of 3 and if you somehow get too injured you can turn to Xiena who will be able to cure you. Kayle has twenty life points and you just need to keep running at him; if you want you can use the pillars for cover. Once you dispatch him make sure that you take the weapons; you will need these later in the quest. You should also remember to question Kayle before leaving this room; you will find out about the planned ritual.

RuneScape the Blood Pact Quest Guide

The next room you hit contains Cailin and she will use magic to attack you. There is a hole in the ground separating you from her and you will need to get close enough to attack here; while at the same time dealing with the attacks coming your way. Use the bow and arrow that you took from Kayle and you should win this one easy as well. Once you have disabled her ask more questions and you will find out more of the Zamorak plans. Take her stuff (staff and runes) and head onwards with your quest.

The last person you need to face is the warrior Resse. Make sure you equip the staff you have just taken from Cailin and head down the stairs. This cultist is actually the easiest of the lot to beat. Once you have done this you can question him, but before you can take his stuff he will swallow a poison. You have found Illona; talk to her briefly before taking her out of the dungeons.

You are now almost finished RuneScape the Blood Pact. All you have to do is talk with Xenia. You will be awarded 100 XP for magic, defense, attack, ranged, and strength. You will also now be allowed access to the Catacomb Dungeons in Lumbridge. If you want to find out more about what is going on you can continue to question Xenia; she will also tell you a bit about herself. Xenia admits that she wasn’t badly injured by Kayle but had just wanted to see how good you are.

Runescape Merchanting Tips

Have you ever wondered what merchanting was? Well, it is just buying low and selling high. A lot of people get Runescape merchanting confused with scamming. Of course, this is not the case. Scamming is cheating other players out of their money, items, and so on.

Here is the quote of rule 2: “You must not scam or deceive other players. And lying to other players for your own personal gain is not in the spirit of fair play.”

Merchanting is just buying as low as you can get it, and selling as high as you can. With the new trade limits, it makes it harder to buy super low, and sell super high, because players now know exactly how much they are paying. This usually means less people willing to pay the max price. Due to the trade limits, merchanting has almost become a dead topic. Now all people recommend doing is hording. Hording is my term for stocking up in ore, wood, ect… to sell as bulk to players. Hording and Merchanting are two of the same whole.

You see, Merchants need bulk items as cheap as they can get them so that they can sell the bulk items for more of a price. I have heard that there are three types of sellers.

You have: Repeat Sellers – These ones will give you a continuous flow of the bulk. As you keep on buying, you form a trust between each other and thus can get better deals.
Desperate Sellers – These are good, as if they are desperate you can get a way better deal. Usually these types of sellers are over stocked and will take the loss. Then you have the ones who do not know the value of an item. Personally, I think that this is a lot like scamming. Just so you know, due to the trade limits, these types of sellers do not exist. This is one reason that the Merchants have died out. So in a way, merchanting use to be a lot like scamming. Now a days, it just buying low and selling high.

I do not think I ever tried merchanting; it seemed like a lot of work for not so much profit. Not to mention that you had to have money to start with, and back before I developed my own ways, I had no money. I started earning money by chopping wood and then I moved onto fishing. Hording is an excellent way to make money. For those few who are still merchanting, I greatly recommend you switch over to Hording. As more and more people switch over, less and less are going to accept less than the normal price. As the price rises, merchanting will become a dead theory.

The people who Hord have figured out that they are accepting too low for their items now, because of the trade limits. So instead of selling low, they are going to go to the bulk buyers and sell for a better price. As this happens, the market will slowly rise. As the market slowly rises, more and more people will begin to switch over to hording. As this happens, people are going to look for the lowest price available. That is where you come in.

Hord and save, watch the market go up. When you think that it is time, sell as low as you can. I guarantee that you are going to have people lined up just waiting to buy from you, and because you spent your time hording, you will have the items to supply them. Thus, you become rich. Happy Hording!

RuneScape Guide:Cheap Way to 99 Summoning

o you like playing RuneScape ? Yes, but it will cost lots of money. Cost lots of money? No! Absolutely not. There is someone who summary a cheapest method for RuneScape fans.

By Zik

This method of getting 99 Summoning is far cheaper than the other method, but is by far much much much slower. The cheapest method of training Summoning involves the use of gold charm familiars only. If at any point in your Summoning training that you have a green, crimson, or blue charm,  use them on the best familiar of that type of charm possible.

¤ Levels 4 to 16 ¤

You should have level 4 Summoning from the experience reward in Wolf Whistle. From there, you should buy raw chickens from the GE and create dreadfowl pouches. You can also buy some raw chickens yourself from a store. A good spot would be the Canifis Meat Store, located a few steps north of the Canifis Bank, but you will have to have completed the Priest in Peril quest to gain access to Canifis. Another spot would be Oo’glog, where the meat store is just a few steps north of the bank, but requires the completion of the quest As a First Resort… Each pouch requires 1 pouch, 9 spirit shards, 1 gold charm, and 1 raw chicken. Continue doing this until level 16 Summoning. It’ll take around 270 dreadfowl pouches to get there.

¤ Levels 16 to 52 ¤

You’ll be doing granite crabs this entire way, since spirit mosquitoes and bull ants’ secondary ingredient are somewhat rare and thus they are extremely expensive. That’s 5,600 granite crab pouches to be made until you are level 52 Summoning. Each pouch requires 1 pouch, 7 spirit shards, 1 gold charm, and 1 iron ore. You can mine the iron ores yourself if you would like to save even more money, and at about 30 Mining, you can get an iron ore with just one hit of the pickaxe, not to mention the rate at which iron ore respawns (very fast). If you don’t feel like mining 5,600 iron ores, you can buy them from the Grand Exchange for about 165gp an ore, which comes out to be 576,800gp in iron ores.

¤ Levels 52 to 66 ¤

At this point is where most people will stop training Summoning: level 52. It is an important milestone, because you now have access to the great spirit terrorbird. The spirit terrorbird is a beast of burden that can carry up to 12 of your items. In addition to that, its scroll restores your running energy, making it ideal for clue scrolls, quests, adventuring and exploring, and even at god wars, particularly Saradomin god wars. But enough with that, let’s get on with the leveling. You’ll be making spirit terrorbird pouches. Oh yes, they’re very cheap and good experience too, in addition to the uses I mentioned above. It’ll take about 5,500 spirit terrorbird pouches to get to level 66. Each pouch requires 1 pouch, 12 spirit shards, 1 gold charm, and 1 raw bird meat. You can raw bird meat at the Oo’Glog meat store, which requires completion of As a First Resort… for a small price. You can buy them on the GE as well, for about 402gp per, but it’ll save a lot of time.

¤ Levels 66 to 99 ¤

Barker toads all the way to 99! War tortoises require level 67 Summoning to create, but actually give less experience than the barker toad does. At level 71, you can make arctic bear pouches as well, but they are way too expensive to be worth it in this ‘cheap method’. It’ll be about 144,000 barker toads to get to level 99 this way. Yes, that is a lot of charms to get, but you wanted cheap, so that’s what you get. Each pouch requires 1 pouch, 11 spirit shards, 1 gold charm, and a swamp toad. Swamp toads can be collected in a small fenced in area west of the Grand Tree. There a ton of spawns there, but take a while to respawn. I would recommend using a high populated world while collecting these, so that they will spawn faster. Of course, you can buy all of them, which I highly recommend, at about 221gp a toad.

Hope this method will help you. Less money, Bigger fun!

RuneScape Players Don Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

RuneScape literally turned pink yesterday with thousands of players donning pink clothing, hairstyles and even pink armour as they marched through Gielinor, RuneScape’s fantasy world.

The march was a community led initiative and was organised by RuneScape members who gathered together and joined forces to mark the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the annual international health campaign which is organised by major breast cancer charities every October to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure.

The idea for a march originated from a forum post by ‘Darth Brick’ in the RuneScape forums and soon gathered traction as numerous RuneScape clans signed up and pledged to wear pink throughout October.  Over 31 clans took part in the march across the game’s world, ending with a celebration in the game’s trading hub, the Grand Exchange. The march was the first of many scheduled to take place throughout RuneScape during October.

Five things you didn’t know about ‘RuneScape’

If you’re a seasoned computer gamer, you’re probably well aware of “RuneScape,” a fantasy-based massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) that initially debuted in 2001.

Developed and published by UK’s Jagex Games Studio, “RuneScape” has just hit a new milestone: the 200 millionth account has been created (though “active” users stand at about 10 million).

To help commemorate the world’s largest free MMORPG – as recognized by Guinness World Records – USA TODAY caught up with Mark Ogilvie, lead designer on the game, to reveal 5 things you likely didn’t know about the game.

Bedroom roots

Jagex Games Studio currently employs more than 500 staff to develop new content for the millions of players who play “RuneScape.” However, back in 2001, it was a very different story. The original team consisted of just two brothers, Andrew and Paul Gower, who created the game as a hobby and a creative outlet while in college.

After graduating, the brothers set about developing “RuneScape” further from their parent’s house. With only a limited amount of time and money to invest, they were quick to rope in their friends to act as game testers and graphics artists. They even drafted in their family to help record sound effects for the game, spending hours dropping things into their mother’s sink to mimic the sound of fishing and capturing bacon frying on the stove to use for players cooking in the game.

Record breaking

“RuneScape” currently has players in more than 150 countries. In 2008, Guinness World Records crowned the game with the title of “World’s Most Popular Free MMORPG,” but this isn’t the only world record that “RuneScape” has won. The game also holds the Guinness World Record for the most updated game, as well. With content releases nearly every week, the game is constantly changing and evolving, meaning that there is always a new adventure every time players login to the game.

What’s more, the number of minutes “RuneScape” players has invested in the game has also been calculated: more than 443 billion, to date.

RuneScape players love to lol

Long before the release of social media sites like Facebook and Twitter, hundreds of thousands of “RuneScape” players would login every day just to chat and hang out with their friends.

A recent analysis of the chat in “RuneScape” showed that the most popular word spoken within the game was LOL (which means “laugh out loud”), with a staggering 6,048,000 “lols” per week, perhaps suggesting “RuneScape” players on the whole are an exceptionally happy bunch.

Speaking of chatting, instead of starring offensive words out, the chat filter originally turned any offensive language into the word “cabbage” automatically. This was because the Gower brothers hated cabbages so much that they felt that they were just as bad as the word they were hiding. Although this has now been changed, you can’t miss the subtle cabbage references hidden around the game.

RuneScape maker’s Carnage Racing looks to accelerate social gaming

We’ve already seen that kart racers can shine on Facebook in Kart Rider by Nexon, but what about ones that have glossy muscle cars? And what about ones that have lots of rail guns and fiery explosions? That’s what RuneScape creator Jagex looks to prove is not only possible, but will be popular with Carnage Racing, its first-ever social game on Facebook.

“Triple A gaming isn’t often associated with Facebook gaming and we are determined to change that,”Jagex US studio director Jay Panek said in a release, “We wanted to take all our experience from the Midnight Club series and apply the same quality and gameplay benchmarks in a Facebook environment. The result is Carnage Racing, a massively addictive racing game where the main aim is not only the beat your friends to the finish line, but also the see how many of them you can blow up along the way!”

Much of the Jagex US studio based in California is comprised of veterans of the Midnight Club series on consoles, so Panek’s enthusiasm is understandable. Carnage Racing, or Jagex’s answer to the kart racing games on Facebook, offers real-time racing with friends or AI opponents along with a time challenge mode that allows players to asynchronously throw down the gauntlet with one another.

Other features that players can expect, aside from those gorgeous graphics, are 13 unique race tracks set on a tropical island, five cars that players can beef up with 50 different upgrades and five different weapons with 47 upgrades available. Full 3D, console style social games are a rare breed on Facebook (with successful ones being even rarer), but the same could have been said for the web when Jagex hit the scene with RuneScape, no?
