The Reason behind Making Necessary Accounts

As all World of Warcraft players already know, the Battle.net conversion will be mandatory in near future. However, why Blizzard conducts such an impending switch? One very basic reason is to protect your WoW accounts and WoW gold.

Players like to complain about the conversion. People would be required to have a physical piece of equipment specific to WoW and other Blizzard games. Not everybody likes to do so. Thus, Blizzard will certainly lose some subscribers. But that wouldn’t be a big deal. Then they may give away authenticators to the subscribers who don’t have one to lessened future customer service.

Authenticators can keep Blizzard customer’s accounts safe. It is a way to show how much they value the security is and the need for safe accounts to be a top priority. The rest of the gaming industry will catch this signal clearly, and it helps Blizzard to lead the gaming business.

Another reason for Blizzard want to make Battle.net Accounts mandatory is to decreasing GM workload. In particular these days the amount of work GMs are doing has clearly become more than Blizzard can currently handle. Tickets are in queues for days right now, and you’re one in a million if you actually get to talk to a GM in any reasonable amount of time.

Here is an idea might be not to make Battle.net acconts mandatory with the current software from a WoW player, but bundle authenticators with all copies of Cataclysm and make them mandatory for people who want to play on a cataclysm-enabled account. This would certainly be an easier way to get the authenticators out to existing subscribers.
